Before I show you more pictures of Athena, I must introduce the woman whose talent and perseverence made this job possible for us. Her name is Lou Reed. She has a custom framing business in Madison TN. You can see it on the web at http://www.rframe.com Lou knows her stuff when it comes to gold leaf, and she trained our crew of gilders to work on this historic project. Here you can see she's up to her elbows mixing red oil paint into the clear size. It's done in batches by hand, using a piece of glass and a razorblade. Obviously we will be using a LOT of it to cover a statue the size of Athena.
