THE
ATHENA PROJECT - SUMMER 2002
|
WEEK 2 |
Luke and Susan brushing shellac on the snake. The snake is really big - it coils around to the back of the statue, and practically leans up against the shield in others. This makes for real contortions by the gilders to get at it. Plus the scales have lots of little crevices that we have to be careful not to miss with the shellac. The lower shot is one of Athena's feet, showing its size. She's wearing "platform" sandals that have little bas relief figures on them. We will shellac around these figures, as they will be painted, not gilded. |
