Here are some photos of my gilded bowls. Mouseover the thumbnails to see larger views. They start out as layered paper mache. I brush gesso on the insides, and then paint on a base color. I leaf the interior with gold, copper, silver or variegated metal leaf. Finally I seal the entire bowl; sometimes I also apply transparent colored glazes.

Put one of these little bowls anywhere, and they will catch any light source and reflect it beautifully. They seem to hold light inside of them like jewels.
